Rotary After Work: Peter Gariepy: Recent Candidate for City Treasurer

Peter Gariepy: Recent Candidate for City Treasurer

Peter will talk about his experience running for public office in Chicago and provide some insights and commentary on the candidates in the Chicago election.

Peter Gariepy lives with his wife, their two children, and their rescue dog, Baloney; in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood. He recently ran for City Treasurer, not making it to the April 2nd runoff election, to ensure our Chicago meets its commitment to those who have earned a city pension while protecting taxpayers who are exhausted from continuously rising fees and taxes.

Peter’s past involvement includes volunteering as treasurer of the West Town Special Service Area, treasurer of the East Village Association, Associate Board Member for the Center for Economic Progress, and on the Associate Board of Christ The King Jesuit College Preparatory School in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood. A lifelong Democrat and supporter of progressive issues and causes, Peter has written three books, two for children and one about the experience and motivation of a first-time candidate. He received a Bachelors in Public Accounting and a Masters in Taxation from Fordham University, and a Masters in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University. Peter is a licensed CPA in the State of Illinois and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
